Please, inquire if you wish to charter a yacht in Greece and follow this route
Day 1: BODRUM - KARA ISLAND
Join the yacht in Bodrum Harbour in the afternoon and once everyone is on board, set sail for the nearby island of Karaada for an afternoon of swimming and shore-based exploration.
Overnight anchored off the island, Karaada, with dinner on board
Day 2: ANCIENT KNIDOS - PALAMUTBUKU
In the morning, sail around Cape Krio and into the southern harbour of ancient Knidos. Once anchored, take a tender ashore to explore the ruins of this once-thriving trade centre. Knidos has two theaters, the larger of which seated an audience of 20,000, a number of temples and an acropolis. Take in the view from above the ruined circular temple of Aphrodite - a site of worship which once attracted thousands of worshipers, all vying to witness the beauty of Praxiteles’s nude statue of Aphrodite. The base of this famous statue can still be seen today. Also of importance is a sundial, developed by a son of Knidos - the great mathematician and inventor, Eudoksus. As you wander past a temple dedicated to Apollo or admire the mosaic floors of a church, imagine how life must have been in city perfectly positioned at the convergence of numerous key trade routes.
In the early afternoon, move on to Palamutbuku, a quaint harbour with friendly locals serving traditional Turkish cuisine in their local-style tavernas. A memorable meal can be enjoyed on the pebbled beach -- “Badem Restaurant" is a favourite.
Day 3: HAYITBUKU - DATCA
Explore the coast from Palamut Buku around to Hayitbuku and spend the day at leisure walking around the village. In the late afternoon, sail north to Datca, arriving in the main harbour just before dusk. Go ashore to explore the quaint streets of Datca and then find a nice restaurant overlooking the harbour for the evening meal.
Overnight in Datca with dinner ashore at a local fish restaurant.
Day 4: DIRSEK - BOZBURUN
A day of relaxation in one o the world's most beautiful cruising grounds, the Gulf of Hisaronu. Enjoy sailing along the gulf and stops at beautiful coves, such as Dirsek. When the day is cooling off, go ashore in the charming village of Bozburun and explore the streets and souvenir shops in this former sponge-fishing centre. Bozburun is a very special place with some of the friendliest people you will find anywhere. The sights and sounds of Bozburun will enchant!
Overnight in Bozburun Harbour with dinner on board or ashore.
Day 5: BOZBURUN - SYMI
Return to the islands just off Bozburun, and once clearance formalities are complete, sail for the Greek island of Symi. Anchor in the bay and take a tender boat ashore to Yialos, a picture-postcard beautiful harbour where the pretty pastel shades of 18th and 19th century mansions are overlaid with bright bougainvillea and where stately superyachts co-mingle with traditionally-designed fishing boats. Symi has plenty of wonderful shops and restaurants, street cafes and eateries. The harbour area is busy and bustling with people coming and going on day trips and charter boats.
There’s much to see ashore, so take your time and really explore. Ferry back to the yacht in the late afternoon and get changed for dinner ashore in a hillside Greek taverna with views out over the port.
Overnight in Symi Harbour with dinner ashore.
Day 6: SYMI - PANORMITIS BAY
After breakfast and a walk ashore, head for Agios Nikolaos Bay for swimming and snorkelling. At the southern end of the island is the overnight stop of Panormitis. Here, the main attraction is the Greek Orthodox Monastery of Taxiarchis Mihail Panormitis. The old monastery complex has an attractive Baroque bell tower which chimes every 15 minutes. There is also a wonderful little bakery ashore, if you like the idea of buying some sweet treats to take back to the yacht.
Dinner on board in Panormitis Bay, accompanied by the sounds of pealing bells from the bell tower echoing out into the night.
Day 7: RHODES
Sail for Rhodes in the early hours of the morning, enjoying the spectacular sight of the old town’s defensive walls and the historic buildings beyond them. Breakfast in the main harbour, alongside the walls, then set off for sightseeing in the old town of Rhodes. If you have ever held a fascination with the ancient world, you would likely know where “The Colossus” stood. And even if you didn’t know, a visit to Rhodes is certainly an excellent adventure, and a great way to find out about life in ancient Greece!
Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands, offers three full days of sightseeing as there’s much to do and see in the medieval walled city, better known as “Rhodes Old Town”. The walled city has been inhabited for centuries and where it would be easy to wander its maze of narrow, cobble-stone streets for hours, we suggest a visit to the busy, shop-lined “Socrates Street”, the bell tower, the Archaeological Museum and the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes. A stroll down the Street of the Knights is another highlight, as is a walk through the “New Town” of Rhodes with its bright lights and nightspots.
Overnight in Rhodes with a final dinner on board.
Day 8: FAREWELL TO THE CREW
Disembark in Rhodes after breakfast.
